Hawker Hurricane Mk 1 P3554
In 1978, I started the Hurricane project. Since then I have scoured the country for parts from
scrapyards, restorations, shot down aircraft…you name it. The intention is to create an
airframe that is 85% wartime Hurricane material. So far over 60 Hurricanes have ‘provided’
parts. The main cockpit items come from Hurricane P3554 that had the dubious honour of
being shot down twice during the Battle of Britain. When finished this aircraft will be a
memorial to the designers, builders, groundcrew and pilots who were connected with this
magical and indispensable aircraft.
